Axbridge Showcase 2014

This year's Axbridge Showcase will again be held in the historic town of Axbridge on Saturday September 5th. It will have a 1940's theme and is hosted by Axbridge Chamber of Commerce. The festivities start at 9am and continue through the day until live music in The Square brings it to a close at 11pm.

The scene will be set in the Medieval Square with World War 11 vehicles and anti aircraft gun.

9 am Gold Award Farmers Market finishes at 1pm (prompt)

9 am to 1.30 pm Jonathan the Medieval piper gathers the crowds

9.50 am St Johns Church Peel of Bells

10 am Axbridge Showcase official opening in the Square by Mayor of Axbridge with Carnival Queen and Princesses

10 am Churchill Bunker Café in The Town Hall opens

10.15 am to 4pm Historic documents on Display in the Council Chamber, Town Hall - informative talk every hour on the hour

10.15 am to noon Voices of Axbridge Exhibition in St Johns Church

10.15am to 12.30am Axbridge Methodist Church opens for refreshments with Glastonbury Handbell Ringers at 12 noon

10.15 am to 4 pm King Johns Hunting Lodge open

10.30 am Parade of Axbridge Sea Cadets followed by Horn Pipe Dance performed by the junior Sea Cadets in the Square

11.00 am Congresbury Brass Band at the foot of the Church Steps

11.45 am to 12.15pm Punch and Judy in The Court, St Marys Street

1 pm Farmers Market closes and disperses

1 pm Congresbury Brass Band at the foot of the Church Steps

1.15 pm to 1.45pm Punch and Judy in The Court, St Marys Street

1.50 pm Morris Dancers arrive in the Square from St Marys Street

2.20 pm Sir Winston Churchill announces War has broken out

Junior ACT and ACT - Axbridge at War

2.30 pm to 4pm Messy Church for Children in St Johns the Baptist Church

2.40 pm to 4.40 pm Grammy Bros music from the 1940s and 1950s

3.00 pm Classic cars arrive and park up in the Square

4.45 pm to 6.45pm The Lost Sheep playing 1960.s and 1970s music

7.00 pm to 9.00 pm Mayhem playing themed music of the period

9.00 pm to 11 pm Screwloose rocking the night away
